Many nutritionists argue that starvation can be avitaminosis, the body does not get protein in time, in addition to fat consumes structural proteins of its own tissues, primarily muscles.
As for avitaminosis, they do not occur in therapeutic fasting. A belief to the contrary appeared in the study of various inferior fancy diets (rice, eyeglass, Japanese, Kremlin, etc.) in the press. But at the same time with goggle, kefir and other diets criticized, and complete abstinence from food and water (it is called the zero diet). It is here that nutritionists begin to talk about the possibility of avitaminosis with prolonged fasting. And it is assumed due to a simple analogy: if, say, a diet lacking sufficient minerals, trace elements, vitamins causes avitaminosis, then starvation should lead to it. However, the opposite turns out to be true. As numerous studies show, during therapeutic fasting the body does not spend energy on digestion, assimilation and excretion. At the same time, the need for minerals is significantly reduced, and the body uses its available reserves much more economically. Therefore, if avitaminosis is often observed in mono-diets, when refined, denatured products are consumed, it does not occur during fasting. The famous American researcher de Vries wrote:“One can live much longer on water alone than on water and white flour, simply because eating white flour increases the need for other substances so that the body can digest, assimilate and metabolize the flour”.Our esteemed nutritionists state,“By not getting protein during fasting, the body uses up structural proteins of its own tissues, primarily muscle, in addition to fat.”
Evolutionary acquisitions that increase the chances of survival in the absence of food includeinternal food reserves. These are high-calorie lipids dissolved in body fluids, liver and muscle glycogen, and specialized cells – adipose tissue. The cells of this tissue, adipocytes, are rich in fat and are living energy carriers. In the period of growth, in the “satiety of life” their numbers increase. In periods of starvation, they become an internal source of nutrition. Living cells – storage cells – are an excellent solution to the food program! Think about how hard you have to try to keep food warm, long-lasting, nutritious, and not expensive! During fasting, adipocytes provide the body with more than just energy. They supply almost all the components necessary for life. A properly fasting person does not have diseases of malnutrition. One kilogram of fatty fiber is enough for 5 days of full nutrition! Even people of ideal weight are 25% fatty tissue. Dry fasting, or absolute fasting (without water) has two very big positive aspects. Less muscle tissue is lost relative to fat tissue. During water fasting the loss of muscle and fat tissue is almost in equal proportion. Duringdry fasting, adipose tissue breaks down 3-4 times faster than muscle tissue, because adipose tissue is more than 90% water, while muscle tissue remains relatively preserved.
A hundred years ago, on the basis of long-term in-depth studies, Academician V.V. Pashutin found out that during fasting, pathologically altered tissues are consumed. Pashutin found out that during starvation pathologically changed tissues are consumed. It is the liberation of the organism from old, diseased, dead, weak, flabby, decaying cells and tissues that determines a powerful therapeutic effect in various diseases. After all, healthy tissues in this case not only do not suffer, but as if renewed, which causes theeffect of rejuvenation, noted by all researchers – both ancient and modern. All vital organs – heart, CNS, brain, glands of internal secretion – in the process of therapeutic fasting, however long it may be, keep the status quo and even significantly improve their functions. These factors explain such phenomena during therapeutic fasting as a burst of creative abilities in workers of mental labor – writers, musicians, inventors, artists. Their efficiency increases immeasurably, their consciousness becomes clearer, the quality of thinking improves: it becomes deeper, the range of associations expands considerably, long-term and short-term memory improves, etc.
To criticize the method oftherapeutic fasting,to reject it, one must, first of all, be competent in this field. The most important argument: starvation is a natural instinct laid down by nature in living matter, necessary for its perfection.
