Acidosis

When performing therapeutic fasting, in order to get a good therapeutic effect it is necessary to go through certain stages.

The 1st stageis called food arousal, its duration on wet fasting 2 – 3 days, on dry fasting 1 – 2 days. The stage of food arousal is a mild stress for the organism. This stress first of all causes activation of hypothalamus. It begins to secrete various substances that have a special effect on the glands of internal secretion in order to adapt the body to existence without food and water. After 24 hours of fasting, the secretion of somatotropic hormone – growth hormone – by the pituitary gland sharply increases and according to modern data, Dry fasting has a rejuvenating effect on the body. It activates the pancreatic hormone glucagen, which increases the breakdown of glycogen in the liver, which provides the body with nutrition. It also relieves intoxication of the body through beneficial effects on the thyroid gland. During the first stage, any signals of food can usually irritate: the sight and smell of it, talking about food, the sound of eating utensils and so on. They cause salivation, rumbling in the stomach, the sensation of sucking under the spoon, worsens sleep, increased irritability, there is a bad mood. Thirst is tolerable.

Stage 2: increasing acidosis. Usually this stage on dry fasting lasts from 2 to 4 days. Once a person has completely given up food and water, the body begins to consume stored reserves and secondary tissues. The breakdown of nutrients and tissues during starvation leads to the accumulation of their breakdown products within the body. As a result, the pH of the organism shifts rapidly to the acidic side (acidosis), but the acidification values do not exceed physiological norms. Acidosis during starvation is the first and the most important physiological mechanism that causes the activation of a chain of other healing mechanisms, which are in an inactive state during the usual dietary regime. Acidification of the internal environment of the organism leads to the start of tissue dissolution processes – autolysis. It turns out that in an acidic environment activated phagocytes and some enzymes, whose function is reduced to the destruction of weakened tissue and all foreign in the body. In turn, the processes of autolysis trigger the mechanism ofcleansing the body oftoxins, weakened and pathologically altered tissue. Due to the cleavage of tissue, the slags contained in it are released and removed from the body, and the modified tissue is destroyed. Control over the breakdown of body tissues is carried out by a special function, which we have called the principle of priority. This function makes sure that first of all, all unnecessary, pathologically altered tissues are broken down, and then it is the turn of healthy tissues – according to the principle of importance for the vital activity of the organism.

Acidification of the body and increased phagocytic activity leads to normalization of the body’s microflora.

Acidosis includes the mechanism of assimilation of carbon dioxide and nitrogen from the air by the body cells. This is what contributes to the fixation of soluble carbon dioxide in the blood on the principle of photosynthesis, i.e. by means of the most ideal synthesis in our world. The atmospheric air we breathe becomes a nutrient medium. In other words, with increased assimilation of CO by cells in combination with increased consumption of nitrogen from the air, the most favorable conditions are created for qualitative construction of nucleic acids, proteins and other biologically active substances necessary for full human life activity. In other words, on dry hunger we consume carbon dioxide and nitrogen from the air and create proteins necessary for our body from them. But the question arises: at the expense of what?

Let’s remember the plants.

They take energy from the Sun and therefore can transform the same carbon dioxide of the air and nitrogen of mineral salts into organic compounds. Man also has the ability to feed on natural and cosmic energies, only in the normal state it is manifested only in a very small number of people. At present only a few people are known who do not eat or drink anything at all (I wrote about them). Switching on this mechanism means that the organism switches to full internal (endogenous) nutrition, which provides full synthesis of amino acids and other biological compounds during fasting. In the process of fasting many organs and systems of the organism receive physiological rest, which allows them to restore their damaged structures and functions. Increased tissue breakdown as a result of autolysis and restoration of the structure and function of digestive organs during dry fasting stimulate metabolism and increase the digestive capacity of the body during the period of restorative nutrition. During fasting there is a strengthening of the body’s defense functions both at the level of cells and the whole organism. It becomes much more resistant to various internal and external damaging factors. All the above physiological mechanisms lead to a powerful revitalizing and rejuvenating effect in the period following the fasting.

After we have described what triggers the process of acidification (acidosis) of the internal environment during starvation, let us return to the acidosis itself. The process of acidification of the internal environment of the organism increases rapidly. Usually the maximum of acidification is observed on the 2nd – 3rd day of fasting. And it happens in the following way. At the very beginning of fasting, when the body still has reserves of animal sugar – glycogen, the body uses it. But as soon as glycogen reserves are exhausted (and this usually happens on the first day of fasting), the blood begins to accumulate acidic products of incomplete breakdown of fat (oily acids, acetone), its alkaline reserves decrease, and this is reflected in the well-being: the fasting person may get headache, nausea, feeling of weakness, general malaise. White plaque on the tongue, dry tongue and lips, mucus on the teeth, acetone odor from the mouth, dry and pale skin, the feeling of hunger is much lower, while thirst at this time increases. Poor health is the result of the accumulation of harmful products in the blood. At this time a person on dry fasting can have internal fever, it is the body starts to turn on the mechanisms of neutralization of harmful substances. Here is a description of this mechanism from the patient’s diary – “The fifth day of dry fasting. The 5th night has come. About 21-22 hours of the night I felt fever. Though it was cool (I was sitting in a sweater), I stripped down to my underwear, but it did not get cooler. To cool down I went barefoot in my underwear to the mountain river. It was warm outside, but near the river it was fresh and cool, but the heat was increasing. I stood there until my feet froze. By morning the fever had passed, weakness had passed, energy appeared. The sensations were great: comfortable fever, vigor and energy. After going through dry fasting, myprostate adenomadisappeared completely.

However, once the utilization of ketone bodies begins, their concentration stops increasing and, since ketone bodies are high-energy components, they are used as fuel for the synthesis of new amino acids, which can lead to tissue regeneration. The regeneration process can occur with severe pain and should be prepared for this. At the initial stages of SG, acidotic crisis may occur on the 3rd – 5th day, later – on the 3rd, or even on the 2nd day after the beginning of SG. The earlier the acidotic crisis occurs, the faster it passes, the more time is left for the renewal of the organism. For example, if the acidotic crisis occurs on the 2nd day, there will be more time for regeneration.

The first acidotic crisis and its significance in the recovery of the organism. Gradual acidification of the internal environment of the organism on fasting leads to displacement of most chronic diseases that develop and progress in the human body.

The strongest acidification of the organism occurs during the period of acidotic crisis, and therefore at this time chronic diseases are aggravated. According to the degree of exacerbation, you can judge how successfully hunger has caught this or that disease and “uproot” it from the body. If the exacerbation is pronounced, we should expect a complete cure. If it is weak, it means that starvation solves other more important problems in the body. After some time repeat the fasting, and then it will take care of the remaining diseases. After the acidotic crisis has “weeded out” the diseases from the body, the increase in the defense forces previously spent on the disease begins. Thus, E. Schenk and X. Mayer, who conducted studies of the body’s reaction to various bacilli, point out that the processes of self-defense and increase in defenses against microbes begin only after the acidotic crisis. This is manifested in the tendency to rapid healing of wounds, increased bactericidal ability of the body, which explains the beneficial effect of fasting on many diseases.

Hence the conclusion: until the body of a starving person has not passed the first acidotic crisis, one cannot count on the cure of chronic diseases and a sharp increase in the body’s defenses.

Stage 3 is called the compensation, or adaptation, stage.

The duration of this stage is individual. On average, it starts 5 days of dry fasting and ends on the 9th day. At this stage, you may feel better, weakness will decrease, and all unpleasant sensations will disappear. This improvement can pass in waves. The feeling of hunger completely disappears, thirst may increase. Its duration depends on the fat reserves in the body. This stage ends with the second acidotic crisis, which takes place from the 8th to the 11th day. From the time the first acidotic crisis passes until the onset of the second, the body stores vitality. During the acidotic crisis, some people have an aggravation of their underlying disease, a sharp deterioration of health, loss of strength, loss of sleep, may be very high fever. These symptoms indicate that starvation has begun to “turn out” the disease. If in the first two stages of starvation autolysis of body tissues was the only source of nutrition, then during the second acidotic crisis autolysis performs more the function of a natural surgeon.

Therefore, it is necessary to undergo this crisis for full therapeutic effect. I had a patient with a benign uterine tumor, on the ninth day her well-being deteriorated sharply, chills and a very strong internal fever appeared. She wanted to get out of fasting. I calmly explained to her the essence of what was happening, that if she did not go through this crisis to the end now, she would not be completely cured. In the morning she had no symptoms, feeling good. When she got home, she had an ultrasound and it showed that she had nomyoma and no mastitis.

The most important thing in all types of fasting is to pass the second acidotic crisis, during which there is a stronger activation of all defenses of the body, which contributes to the cure of many incurable diseases. If to say more simply about the very great importance of these crises, then if the first acidotic crisis eliminates the “stem of the disease”, the second one destroys the “root of the disease”.
