Combined fasting

Usually combined fasting is used: 2 – 3 days of dry fasting, then switch to wet fasting.

The advantage of this type of fasting, compared to wet fasting.

Combined fasting – gives a greater health-improving effect than complete fasting (with water), because already on the third day ofabsolute fastingketoacidotic crisis occurs, after which the patient’s well-being improves significantly, and the greatest therapeutic effect for the body is observed. With water fasting, the crisis occurs only after 7-16 days. In this method during 1-3 days (according to individual tolerance) patients are offered to abstain from food and water intake, cleansing enemas are not prescribed. Starting from 2-4 days patients resume water intake, limiting it to 10-12 g/kg of body weight per day during the whole unloading period, and continue full fasting according to the usual RDT method.

A number of researchers note that the use of combined fasting allows to achieve an earlier onset of acidotic peak, greater reduction ofbody fat mass, and, accordingly, betterpurification of the body. In case of treatment of patients with arterial hypertension normalization of blood pressure comes earlier, which reduces the period of unloading and, accordingly, the duration of treatment of patients.

This method is the method of choice when the underlying disease is complicated by obesity and edema syndrome. In addition, the combination of dry and wet fasting is well tolerated by patients, has a therapeutic effect while reducing the total duration of RDT, optimizes the timing of its implementation due to the earlier onset of acidotic crisis.
